Elevated certification is the second level in the Forming Effective Disciples program. Catechetical leaders and school catechists are required to complete this level after completing
Foundational certification (or its equivalent).
Elevated certification is achieved by completing a total of six
designated online courses from the University of Dayton’s Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) and the completion of a
Service Component.
Individuals have a maximum of five years to complete the Elevated process. The clock begins when Foundational certification is completed. If Foundational or its equivalent is already held, the five year period starts when an individual begins work as a catechetical leader or a school catechist.
Those wishing to begin Elevated certification must complete an
Intent to Begin Elevated form and file it with the Diocese of Superior.
Note: Individuals who have earned an Advanced catechetical certification from another diocese will be deemed as meeting the Elevated requirement providing that the certificate is still valid and appropriate documentation is supplied along with a completed Intent to Begin Elevated form.
Choose your first course from the list of required and/or elective courses

Cost of courses are $50, seminars $40 as a diocesan partner; (Individual parishes may/may not reimburse the cost of courses/seminars. Check with your catechetical leader.)
Courses are 5 weeks long offered 5-7 times per year on a rotating basis.
Seminars are 3 weeks long offered one time around the Easter season.
When each course is completed certificates from the University of Dayton will be sent directly to the Diocese of Superior to be recorded. The certificate along with a new transcript will be forwarded to the participant.
