International Priests

The Office for International Priests oversees the entry and placement of diocesan externs and international priests. The office anticipates the priests’ arrival and finds a suitable placement for him. The diocese contracts with an attorney who specializes in international priest application for priestly ministry in the U.S. and supporting documentation. The bishop grants faculties for international priests serving in the Diocese of Superior. 

The Diocese of Superior receives international priests for five or ten years. Unless otherwise agreed upon by the home bishop or the international priest makes the extraordinary decision to incardinate, the expectation is that he return to his home diocese after the agreed upon time.
