Elevated Certification Requirements

The completion of FED Foundational Certification is a prerequisite to FED Elevated Certification.

Equivalents to FED Foundational are:

• Completion of Basic or Intermediate level certification in the Diocese of Superior Ministry of Catechesis Certification program.
• Completion of Basic certification from another diocese providing that the certification is still valid. Appropriate documentation must be supplied along with a completed “Intent to Begin Elevated” form.

Completion of the five required courses from the University of Dayton Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation listed below:

• Survey of Catholic Doctrine
• Images of Jesus
• Church History I
• Introduction of Practical Morality
• Vocation, Spirituality and Discipleship of Catechists

• Old Testament
• New Testament
• Evangelization and Discipleship
• Theological Reflection: Key to Connecting Faith and Life
• Ecclesiology: Reframing Church
• Administration in Ministry
• Leadership in Ministry
• Marianist Studies: Prayer

Completion of a Service Component which includes:

• Twenty (20) hours of service
• Teaching a one-hour session regarding Major Themes of Catholic Social Teaching
• Writing a 3-5 page reflection paper as part of your report to the diocese
