Catholics in Presque Isle first met in a private home, with priests from Hurley celebrating Mass. They built a small brick church around 1950, with a larger, non-insulated building used for summer Masses. Gradually the larger church was winterized and as the parish grew, Masses were held year-round in the larger facility. The brick church was used as a thrift shop. Eventually the little church was demolished to create more parking spaces. Remodeling on the present church took place in the 1990s. Today the parish serves permanent residents and a growing number of summer residents and vacationers.
